Live Life On The Water

Here in Warroad, the only American port on Lake of the Woods, over 300,000 acres of Minnesota waters are at your fingertips. In the summer, you can take out the boat for a day of fishing for walleyes and northern pike or enjoy other watersports by renting a kayak, canoe, or pedal boat.
When the weather turns cold and the waters freeze over, it’s time to lace up your skates or strap on your skis. Ice rinks pop up in backyards throughout town, and community members love to skate and ski along the Riverbend Skate Path, which winds over two and a half miles along the Warroad River. Didn’t get enough fishing done in the summer? Load up a snowmobile and head out to the lake for some ice fishing!

Here in Warroad, where you’re surrounded by lakes, state forests and state parks, you can’t help but take in the beauty of nature. Pick wild blueberries on Blueberry Hill, go birdwatching at Lost River State Forest, or ride the trails at Beltrami Island State Forest. Tucked among the trees on the outer edge of the city, a winding bike path weaves toward the water or heads north toward the Warroad Estates, where you can golf 18 rounds and cool off with refreshments at the clubhouse.

There’s No Place Like Home for the Holidays

Every year during the holidays, the property on the corner of Lake Street and 4th Avenue in Warroad is transformed into a Winter Wonderland. Elliot and Teresa Larson have been decorating their home for the Christmas season since they moved here back in 1980. What started as simple icicle lights strung along the roofline, grew into an elaborate display that sprawls over two lots and fills the community with Christmas cheer, year after year.
